On Friday, February 21, 2025. Beloved husband of Emilie Chasky; loving father of Amy (Thomas) Dempsey, Amber (Ted) Westwood, and the late Lora (William survives) Cook; proud grandfather of Vanessa Coatley, Thomas and Veronica Cook, Sarah, Will, and Mack Dempsey, Cassandra, John, and Ty Westwood; great grandfather of Quinn, Kendal, and Carson; brother of Paula (late Dave) Benedict, James Chasky, and the late William (late Bernadette) Chasky; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

John taught karate and tai chi for 40 years and participated in various karate tournaments. He was still fondly referred to by many as Sensei. John was a member of the Carnegie Planning Commission and a former Carnegie councilman. He was also a member of the Ukrainian Club, Pittsburgh Banjo Club, and the Knights of Columbus. John was very involved in the First Christian Church. Above all, John cherished his family and friends. He never met a stranger. His very comforting personality allowed others to open up to him easily and become instant friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.

Per John's wishes, visitations are private.

John will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

A public memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the First Christian Church, 501 Anthony Street, Carnegie, PA 15106.
