Age 91, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jennie; and sisters, Mary Ambrozic and Victoria Hoysan. John is survived by Julia, his loving wife of 67 years; and his sister, Frances Ambrozic; children, Julie (Jim) Mareino, Jeanne Ambrozic, John (Carol) Ambrozic, Mary (Rich) Semich, Frances A. Powell, Frank Paul (Michele) Ambrozic; grandchildren, Kelly, John, Vince, Angie, Tony, Amanda, Jackie, Natalie and Courtney; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Magdalene, Brock, London, Hannah, Ruby, and one on the way. Friends received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SZAFRANSKI - EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 101 Third St., Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Winifred Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Dad was a retired tractor trailer mechanic at Trailmobile, an usher at St. Ignatius Church for 19 years, and an avid gardener and bird watcher. He served in WWII as a United States Marine. He was extremely proud of his Slovenian heritage. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Slovene Hour, 381 F Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
