Joan Suchan

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, of Scott Twp. Daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Gazdik) Chervenka of Pittsburgh, PA; loving wife of nearly 51 years of the late Frank J. Suchan; loving mom of Steven, wife, Mary of Houston, TX, Kenneth, wife, Kimberly of Bridgeville, PA and Joan Marie "Joanie" Steinhaus, husband, Jeffrey of Galveston, TX; doting gram of Andrew of Bridgeville, PA and Stephen of Houston, TX; sister of the late Helen (Lynn) Nairn of Hopewell Twp., PA; sister-in-law of Mary Ann (Suchan) Vandewater, husband, Victor of Peters Twp., PA; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Joan's happiest times were spent with her family. She and Frank enjoyed traveling to Texas and casino gambling. She had a deep love for her Catholic faith. She was a champion of environmental causes and joked that her representatives knew her. She was a longtime member of the Carnegie Golden Agers and a lifelong member of the Jednota Union of the United States and Canada Pittsburgh Branch #002K, First Catholic Slovak Union. Friends received Sunday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at the SZAFRANSKI - EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 101 Third St., Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry, 330 Third Ave., Carnegie, PA 15106.
