Peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Loving mother of Kenneth J. (Sharon), John M. (Lexie), Christine M., David J. and Robert J. (Amy) Opal; sister of Nicholas (the late Marilou) Murphy and Rose (the late Joe) Gubala, and the late Kathleen Kirstein; sister-in-law of Edward Kirstein and Amelia Opal; grandmother of Keara (Matt) Dallas, Heather, Jack and Magritte "Maggie" Opal; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends received Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at the SZAFRANSKI - EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.101 Third Street, Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial in Ss. Simon and Jude Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. entombment in Cavalry Cemetery. Mary was a devoted member of Ss. Simon and Jude Parish in Greentree for over 50 years. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was an avid reader and almost always had a book in her hands. She loved to cook and passed on that love of cooking to all of her children.
