Evelyn Kathryn McLaughlin

Of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed peacefully at Brookdale Apts. Mt Lebanon, PA on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Evelyn was born on October 16, 1927 in Millvale, PA to Albert and Eleanor Kremmel.
Evelyn was a graduate of Mt. Alvernia High School then worked as a mechanical draftsman at Bell Telephone Co. She married her beloved husband Thomas Samuel McLaughlin 1954 who preceded her in death 1971. Evelyn worked at J.C. Penney Co Accounting Dept, then St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish School before retiring.

Evelyn was devoutly rooted in her Roman Catholic Faith and has been an active member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish of Carnegie, PA now known as The Parish of St Raphael the Archangel. Evelyn enjoyed many church and volunteer activities, most recently at Kane Hospital. Evelyn especially enjoyed the companionship of her pet/rescue dogs. Her backyard refuge became a peaceful sanctuary for birds and wildlife to visit. Evelyn was naturally creative and artistic. She loved to sew, bake, build and write gorgeously scripted notes.

Surviving family includes five children: Mary Eva (Robb) Clarke, Lynn Mary (David) Yusz, Mary Lisa (Michael) Stern, Laura Mary (Walter) Long and Leon Bernard McLaughlin; four siblings: Albert (Mercedes “Cede”) Kremmel, Dolores Pendergast, Marjorie (The Late Anthony) Ditmore and Donna Marie (John) Dontrich; seven grandchildren: Christopher (Jessie Luoma) Stern, Sean Stern, Christy (Boyd Cothran) Kirwan, Jessica Stefano, Veronica (David Meyner) Yusz, Cassandra (Damien Pearson) Yusz, Olivia Yusz; eight great-grandchildren: Max, Ada, Charlotte, Tyler, Katelyn, Aubrey, Layla and Evelyn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Szafranski-Eberlein Funeral Home, 101 Third Street, Carnegie PA 15106 where family and friends will be invited to attend her visitations on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 3 to 6 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 330 Third Avenue, Carnegie, PA 15106 on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her husband, Thomas, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Scott Twp.

In order to be compliant with our state guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing be maintained for Visitation, Mass and Burial.
