Lorraine F. Henderson

November 30, 1939

August 5, 2022

Early on Friday, August 5, 2022, Lorraine Henderson, of Vanadium Woods Village, went into the loving arms of her Creator and friend, Jesus. She was the treasured wife of 64 years to George F. Henderson; loving mother to her children Luann, Donald (Kathy), Steven (Gretchen), Randy (Shari), Kevin (Michelle) Henderson, Victoria (Thomas) Randolph; beloved aunt of David (Marci) Dunn, and Debbie (Arthur) Kline; and for even longer, she was a sister to Dolores Allnock and the late Raymond Zydanowicz; and devoted daughter of the late Peter and Francis Zydanowicz. She was also a devoted and loving grandmother (Grandma/MiMa/Bubba/Aunt Lorraine) to Justin, Ashley, Sarah, Alyssa, Rachael, Joshua, Henry, Aurora, Wesley, Olivia, Avery, Preston, Nathan and Desmond; and great-grandmother/GiGi/Great Aunt Raine to Jayce, Cayleb, Caylea and Wyatt. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless cousins and friends all precious to her. And, of course, she loved her late Cookie Kitty.

Lorraine was an avid storyteller/writer with a published fiction novel, a non-fiction authors’ how-to book, excerpts in other books and more than 700 short stories in magazines.

Her ‘dash’ could not possibly all be written in one obituary but is bursting at the seams with the better part of a century of being a devout Catholic, doting wife, caring daughter, the greatest mom ever, proudest grandmother and GiGi, most loyal friend, constant encourager, dedicated note writer and card sender, best hugger, unceasingly zealous pray-er and faithful follower of Jesus.

She was generous to a fault and gave to everyone in need who crossed her path: family, friends, churches, organizations, foundations, etc. She and Georgie provided love, friendship, encouragement, celebrations, funds, respite, vacations, vehicles, meals, donations and the like to more than could possibly be counted, not to mention leaving an army of gingerbread people in her wake. Her infectious joy and smile are legendary. There is not enough print in the world to represent all she was to and did for those she loved.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 3-7 pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 11 am. Following mass, Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life gathering for immediate family afterwards.

To honor Lorraine’s wishes, masks are encouraged, but not required, to protect her immunocompromised family, friends, neighbors and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Lorraine’s life partner George, please consider making a donation in Lorraine's name to:
