Peacefully at home with family at his side, on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Theresa Spangler; loving father of Patty (Steve) Palonis, Cathy (late David) McLaughlin, Danny (Laura) Spangler, and the late Barry Spangler; grandfather of Stephen, Lori (Tom), Michelle, Ryan, Kevin, Caroline, Emily, and Jacob; great-grandfather of Delaney and Spencer; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; brother of Carol and the late Roy, Ray, Tom, and Nellie.

Dan always said he had the greatest job in the world as a City of Pittsburgh police officer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC., 101 Third St. Carnegie.

Per Dan's wishes, there are no public visitations.

Everyone is invited to his Funeral Mass at St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Margaret of Scotland Church on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. Following Mass, Dan will be laid to rest with full military honors next to his wife, Theresa, in Chartiers Cemetery.
