Nancy Louise (Kovanis) Beck

November 2, 1941

October 9, 2023

Preceding her in death are her parents, Martha & Felix, sister and brother-in-law Janice (Kovanis) and David Headrick, and sister-in-law Nina Kovanis.

Nancy was a woman who always stayed true to herself and often forged her own unique path in life. The first in her family to earn a Master’s Degree, she became a social worker. After retiring from the state but still desiring to work and help in the community, she became a classroom aide and lunch monitor for local elementary schools. Nancy could talk fondly for hours of the people she served, and made a positive impact on countless lives.

She spent much time traveling Europe as a young woman, and continued to explore locations all over this part of the world, enjoying beach trips and casino excursions as often as she could.

Nancy was a loyal and true friend, still keeping close contact with many high school friends, as well as gaining more close friends throughout her lifetime. She was always smiling, always up for an adventure, and liked by everyone she met.

She had a deep appreciation for music of all genres, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and cheesy Hallmark movies. Nancy was an animal lover and supported shelters and Dogs for the Deaf. But mostly she loved spending time with her family, especially babysitting her great niece and nephew, enjoying family dinners, or cheering on the Pirates and Penguins.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her brothers, Jim and Don, her nephews Jimmy & Don, Jr., nieces Marisa & Lauren, and great nephews and nieces, John, Lilia, Noah, and Delcie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at 101 Third Street, Carnegie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, Ss. Simon and Jude Church, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10:30AM. Following Mass, Nancy will be laid to rest with her family in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
