David Thomas “Chief” Cherup
September 18, 1984
August 27, 2023
Age 38, unexpectedly on August 27, 2023. He was born on September 18, 1984 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Son of David G. Cherup and Marcia A. Thomas. Brother of Anthony and Caroline Cherup. Loved by the memory of his late grandparents, Dr. E. David and Naomi Cherup. Survived by his grandparents Lawrence and Carole Thomas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Proud godfather of McKenzie Cordera.
David was a 2003 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School. He owned his own business, Iron City Landscaping, which was a lifelong passion of his that included his favorite way to make money: tree removals. He enjoyed going to the gym, listening to rock music (AC/DC and Guns & Roses), and visiting his grandmothers (Carole's spaghetti dinner Thursdays and unannounced visits with Mam Mam). He was an avid snowboarder, loved skydiving, and watching the Steelers win big at Heinz Field. David was a 6'4, loud Italian, boisterous man, but he was also a gentle giant, who loved his friends and family so incredibly big. He left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 2-7PM at 101 Third Street, Carnegie. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
