Rose Marie Eberlein

March 14, 1932

August 23, 2023

Peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. at the age of 91. Daughter of the late Harry and Laura Steiner; Wife of the late John "Jack" Eberlein; Loving Mother of John (Mary) Eberlein, Paul (Diane) Eberlein, Dana (Rich) Reiger, and the late Alan Eberlein; Grandmother of Dawn Marie (Jay) Timko, Christopher (Heather) Eberlein, Kirsten (Chuck) Kelley, Richard (Jess) Eberlein, and Robert (Kristen) Eberlein; Great-Grandmother of Krysta, Skyler, Abby, Kaleb, Gianna, Jacob, Nora, Madeline, Charlotte, Ben, Jackson, Josephine, and Luke; Sister of Maryann (Don) Tristano.

Poopie, as she was affectionately called, loved her pierogies, made the best golabki, and the world’s best baked beans. She was a weekly pierogi customer at Holy Ghost in the Rocks during lent, a tradition she has passed on to her family to this day. She never learned to drive but man did she get around! She loved bingo especially at St. James in the West End on Tuesday nights and kept the PA lottery groundhog, Gus, in business. Later in life, she loved her soap operas and her Soap Opera Weekly magazine that she waited for the mailman to bring every Monday. She had a love for her hulless popcorn, Keebler crackers, and Oreo thins. No matter who she met she made them feel like they had been friends forever. Her family meals were endless, and you never left hungry. There was always homemade Jell-O in the fridge. She’s the only person we knew that cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and then cooked another full turkey dinner the very next day. Her homemade stuffing never disappointed anyone. She made the best dippy eggs in the world for breakfast or anytime you wanted them. She had a love for her family and prayed for everyone she knew. She had more prayer books than a priest! And she also loved all the Pittsburgh sports teams. She was a hard working, strong Polish woman and she was proud of it! She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where private family visitations will be held at 101 Third Street, Carnegie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Margaret of Scotland Church, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 10:30AM. Following Mass, our Mom will be laid to rest between her husband, Jack, and her son, Alan, in St. Martin Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank the staff at St. Barnabas and her roommate, Peg, who is the kindest, sweetest soul, for their care, concern, and compassion they gave to our mother. We could not have asked for a better roommate for Mom.
