On Sunday, May 14, 2023. Wife of the late Joseph Koczaja; loving mother of Donna (Ed) Webster and Kate (Ron) Pratt; grandmother of Jody (Taff) Obreza, Ted (Gretchen) Webster, Teri (Joe) Martineck, and Rhonda (Wyatt) Perko; great-grandmother of Joe (Kayla), Jack, and Tony Webster, Jaime and Beau Obreza, Jeffery and Valery Martineck and Chloe Perko; and one great-great-granddaughter on the way, Skyla Rose Webster; also survived by generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Edna Koczaja, affectionately known as Benny celebrated her 97th birthday, April 30. She was raised on a farm in a large family. She married Joe Koczaja and raised two daughters, Donna Webster and Kate Pratt.
Edna worked for Allegheny County, Kane Hospital, Scott Regional Center for over 40 years in various positions, a nurse’s aide, LPN, Occupational Therapy Dept, Pastoral Department as administrative assistant, and finally as director of volunteers.
Edna enjoyed the many family gatherings where everyone looked forward to her amazing pies, especially apple. She had a talent for decorating.
Polka dancing was always a part of her life and she liked nothing more than a good polka band. She was happiest on the dance floor and was one of the best on the floor.
Vacations to Erie with the grandkids and trips to Florida gave her great enjoyment.
She will be missed by her many friends especially the residents of Vanadium Woods where she recently resided.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 2-8 PM at 101 Third Street, Carnegie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Corpus Christi Parish, St. Barbara Church on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10 AM. Following Mass, Edna will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph, in St. Barbara Cemetery.
