On Thursday, June 13, 2024. Son of the late Mary Anna (Bajzek) and Frederick August Dengler; husband of the late Marguerite (Sarsfield) Dengler; beloved father of Dawn Lynne Dengler, Sean Dengler, Sr. (Tammy Aymar), and the late Fred Dengler, Jr.; step-father of Edward (Jackie) Jordan, Colleen Jordan Gilbert, Steven (Deborah) Jordan; Grandfather of Marie Lena (Stefan) Jordan, Kaleb (Amanda) Gilbert, Chloe (Ely) Luciano, Hunter Jordan, Dylan Jordan, Sean Dengler, Jr. and Taylor Blanchard, and the late Sedona Jordan; great-grandfather of Mattis and Lotta Jordan; brother of Kathleen (Richard "Dick") Patrick and the late Carol (late Arthur) Massey; uncle of William (Michele) Stern, Cari Ann Massey-Sears, Rachel Massey, and the late Cristine Stern.
Fred proudly served his entire career in the United States Postal Service. He loved rock and roll and was a long-time member of the Pittsburgh Oldies Record Collectors Club (PORCC) and collected many hundreds of 45s throughout his life. He was an avid reader his whole life and in particular the mystery genre. He kept a handwritten list of all the books he read so that he wouldn’t repeat one. He was a card shark. He loved playing cards with family members and at senior centers. His particular favorite was pinochle. He and Marguerite enjoyed many opportunities for socializing at various senior centers: cards, book clubs, lunches, and trips. He was also a Master of Scrabble. We played with a double sets of letter tiles - all the better for making larger words. He won all but a rare few games. One of those was to Marguerite who proudly framed the score sheet for all to see! His humor and goofiness are already missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 4-7pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 10:00am. Fred will be entombed with his wife, Marguerite, in Holy Souls Cemetery.
