On Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Beloved mother of Brad (Elizabeth) Hicks; grandmother of Karigan and Brendan Hicks; sister of Kenneth Taylor Hicks, J.R. May (Linda Piper), and the late Linda Hetrick and Billy May; aunt of Sami Ann Taggart and Lori Oberman; great-aunt of Devan Hetrick; cousin of Larry (Heather) Tambone, Bobby Tambone, and Sharyn Bennett; also survived by additional cousins and many dear friends.
Karen Ann Lindsay was born in France on an American military base, but grew up in Bryn Mawr, PA before ultimately settling in the Pittsburgh area after stops in Reno and Los Angeles. She was a funny, strong, opinionated, and independent woman to the end, who touched the lives of many people. She loved spending her summers at camp at Buttercup Woodlands and grew many great friendships there as well. She was also a lifelong and loyal Philadelphia sports fan.
Karen loved cooking, especially baking aebleskivers with her granddaughter. She loved sitting by the campfire and talking with her grandson. They both enjoyed frequently playing board games and watching movies with their grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Karen was a great animal lover, especially her dogs Maggie and Finnegan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 4-7PM at 101 Third Street, Carnegie. Karen will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery of West Conshohocken.
