June 21, 1935

November 4, 2024

On November 4th, 2024, the beloved father, grandfather, and patriarch of the Spoharski family passed away peacefully after a long battle with various health conditions.

Edward S. Spoharski was born June 21st, 1935, of the late Lucy and Stanley Spoharski, and brother of the late Loretta Funari. He attended St. Ignatius Catholic School and graduated from Scott Township High School. He then went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania Institute of Technology to become a mechanical draftsman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was employed by Allegheny County as a draftsman, then the Cyclops Corporation at various divisions for 20 years as a design draftsman, project engineer, and plant engineer. He later worked as a distributorship owner selling Hunter Automotive equipment. He retired in September 1997.

Ed met his beautiful wife, Betty, and wed on June 16, 1962. He is the proud father of four children: Glenn Spoharski, Ellen (Ken) Spoharski-Snyder, Edward (Kathleen) Spoharski, and Lori (John) Spoharski-Lerda. … and grandfather of 13 grandchildren; Christopher Snyder, John (Alyssa) Lerda, Joseph (Demi) Snyder, Brittany Spoharski, Ryan (Fiancée Kaelyn) Lerda, Stephanie (Brody) Snyder-Binder, Morgan (Jaime) Spoharski-Bisbey, Sydney Lerda, Shane (Kelsey) Spoharski, Kirsten Spoharski, Dylan Spoharski, Ally Lerda, and Ashlyn Spoharski. … with four great-grandchildren: Thomas Snyder, Bennett Binder, Elowen and Anika Spoharski, his legacy will live on!

As the seasons change, and the fall foliage lights up the earth with its colorful brilliance, we remember how Ed, Dad, or Pap-Pap illuminated our lives with his unwavering love, his contagious joy and happiness, and his steadfast example of just how to be a good man. Unequivocally loved by all, friends and family alike, he was a class act, bringing smiles to any room with his quick wits and cunning sense of humor. He loved people and the roles he played in their lives, from enjoying a cold Yuengling at the SNPJ with his wife and friends, to being the exemplary father and grandfather that we were so blessed to have. A draftsman by trade, but a handyman by nature, he will tell you that he “can fix anything but a broken heart”. An avid outdoorsman, he passed on the passion, knowledge of hunting and fishing to several family members. He loved watching his bird feeder in the back yard, he loved driving his truck around listening to polka music, and he loved his woodburning stove in his basement, but most of all, he loved his family. He was so involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, never missing a birthday, sporting event, recital, graduation, or family function. He was the glue that held all of us together. In a noisy and challenging world, he was our beacon of light, happiness, and peace. The centerpiece of our family, our role model, and best friend. Thank you, Ed, Dad, Pap-pap. The love and dedication you have shown us our entire lives will remain in our hearts forever, and you will be missed dearly.
