John M. "Jack" Flaherty, Sr.

November 3, 1955

April 30, 2025

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Beloved husband of Carol Stidolph Flaherty; loving father of Jack (Jen) Flaherty, Jr., Joe (Jen) Flaherty, Colleen (Drew) Kucel, and Caitlyn (Kevin) Koontz; proud grandfather of Cara, Quinn, Molly, Cameron, and Rose; brother of Lee Ann (Bruce) Dobson, Nancy Kopas, Maureen (Jim) Nelson, Terry (Jerry) Evangelista, and Mary Ann (Marvin) Flaherty; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

You may have known him as John, Jack, Jackie, Flak, Dad, or Pappy. Regardless of what you called him you knew him as a hard working, fun loving, and out going man.

Lover of the outdoors, he loved taking his kids camping and sleeping under the stars. When he wasn't slicing the ball, he loved playing golf. He got great joy teaching his grandkids how to fish.

He was a proud, hardworking union bricklayer. You can't drive around town, view the Pittsburgh skyline, or visit a relatives house that he didn't put his stamp on.

He loved his trips away with his beloved wife of 44 years. It started in year ten of their marriage when Jack and Carol finally went on their Honeymoon to Niagara falls. They would continue to travel back to the falls, Seneca, Georgia, and countless other places.

He was notorious for doing things his own way. He was truly a unique man. There's not a single person who didn't meet him who came away without a story to tell or a memory to share.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 3pm - 7pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11:00am. Following the Service, Jack will be laid to rest in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
