Christopher T. Manhire

November 20, 1961

March 16, 2025

On Sunday, March 16, 2025. Son of Patricia Fanarjian and the late Theodore "Ted" Manhire; Stepson of Janet Manhire; Beloved husband of Katherine Manhire; Loving father of Jackson and Maggie Manhire; brother of Cheryl Schott, Travis Manhire, and Ted Manhire; also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Chris Manhire was talented, loyal, stubborn and complicated. He was a man who preferred to speak in well executed comedic quips or song lyrics that somehow always perfectly applied to each circumstance. A man who charmingly impacted many lives and will now live on through his stories.

Chris was immensely proud of his children, Jackson and Maggie and was sure they inherited their creative talents from him. A union journeyman, his trade allowed him to travel the country. His work can be seen from the Statue of Liberty and Eli Manning’s condo in NJ, to Disneyland in CA, Ceasar’s Palace penthouse in Las Vegas and many other commercial and residential venues across the country. The skills and experience from IUPAT continued to serve him after he left construction. He shared his knowledge at the paint desk of Home Depot for almost 15 years.

Chris proposed to his life partner, Kathy (Kate) Hayes in 1970. However, they didn’t marry until decades later. Between Mr. Lewis’ fourth grade class and the Little Chapel of Love the two had plenty of travel and adventures. None were more formative than a particular Grateful Dead concert in May, 1980. This set the scene for the coming decades as Deadheads culminating in the Manhire’s 32nd wedding anniversary back in Las Vegas for Dead & Company at The Sphere.

We would like to close with this lyric from the Hunter/Garcia song, “Help on the way. Well I know only this, I’ve got you today. Don’t fly away, ‘cause I love what I love and I want it that way. I will stay, one more day, Like I say, honey it’s you”.

Please consider this an invitation to join our family in a Celebration of Life at the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 2-6pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie and afterwards for food and drinks at 31 Sports Bar and Grill, Bridgeville. We have enjoyed all the special memories posted on social media and would love to share them and more in person.
