Martin J. Shimek, Jr.

August 4, 1948

December 14, 2025

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, lifelong resident of Collier Township. Son of the late Martin and Agnes Shimek; brother of Joseph (Annette) Shimek and Theresa (Joseph) Falconer; uncle of Christopher Falconer, Kasey Falconer, Russell (Nicole) Shimek, and Jamie Shimek; great uncle of Cora and Carson Shimek.

Marty will be remembered for his deep love of family and the joy he found in being together, especially during cherished holiday traditions at Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. He treasured time spent with loved ones and carried that same enthusiasm into his travels with friends, always eager for new experiences and shared memories.

Marty dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to Blue Cross, beginning his career in his late teens and retiring at age 48 — a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. After retirement, he continued doing what he did best: connecting with people, through his many years at Kings Jeweler’s in the Mall at Robinson.

Known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, Marty had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. His kindness, laughter, and love for those around him will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC., where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 11:00am until the time of Blessing Service at 1:00pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. Following the Blessing Service, Marty will be buried next to his parents in St. Joseph Cemetery.
