On Friday, June 12, 2026, beloved husband for 50 years of Judy Covi; loving father of Allana (Erik Bertrand) and Luca (Catherine) Covi; grandfather of Marco and Louisa; brother of John "Howdy" (Sandy) Covi and the late Gary Covi; Godfather of Tara (Scott) Sibley; cousin of Cindy (Bill) Griffin, Cheryl (Jeff) Stephan, and the late Carol Covi; also survived by his beloved dog, Patton, generations of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Alex had multiple masters degrees and many careers. He started out as a repo man for the bank then left to open Covi’s bar in Carnegie. He was a concrete mason and a manager at McDonald's. He became a biology teacher at Chartiers Valley where he was the co-founder of the CV Youth Wrestling Program. He eventually became the Vice Principal at Keystone Oaks High School. Alex loved everything outdoors; hunting, fishing, scuba diving, canoeing, and horseback riding to name a few. He could operate any piece of machinery with his CDL. He was an expert gardener and could grow anything he planted. He was generous in sharing his produce with friends, often driving all over town with Patton in the passenger seat to deliver the fruits of his harvest. He also loved to make homemade wine.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC., where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 2:00pm to 5:30pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. Words of remembrance will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday night at 5:30pm.
