It is with deep sadness but unconditional love that we remember a remarkable wife, mother, and grandmother, affectionately known to all as “Speedy,” whose energy, warm heart, and devotion to her family left an everlasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Speedy rightfully earned her nickname—she was always on the move, no matter her age. She worked as a CNA well into her 70s, showing her devotion for helping others. Whether she was on her daily walk, riding down a waterslide at Kalahari, climbing a waterfall in Jamaica, or riding the rugged terrain of Arizona in a pink jeep, she lived a full life with a sense of positivity and joy that never slowed down.

She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Steve, with whom she shared endless love, partnership, and adoration of their daughter, Leslie. She fondly retold stories of their camping and roadtrip adventures. As a mother to Leslie, she was a constant source of inspiration and support. She warmly welcomed her son-in-law Joe into the family, often jokingly referring to him as her “favorite child,” a testament to her humor and the special bond they shared. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, Anthony and Juliana, who brought endless happiness to her life.

Her favorite times of the year were during the holidays, when she got to spend time with all of her family—playing Bananagrams or sitting by the firepit listening to “Play that Funky Music.” Her Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and Christmas morning casserole were more than just meals—they were expressions of love that brought everyone together year after year.

A woman of deep faith, Speedy said prayers for her family each day, holding each of them close in her heart. Her love was constant, her kindness genuine, and her presence a blessing. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.

She will forever be remembered, forever cherished, and forever loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, and is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Joe) Dominick, grandchildren, Anthony and Juliana, sister, Susan Aparicio and family, and friends at Lafayette Square Apartments.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at a later date. Barbara will be buried with her husband, Steve, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
