Peter D. Ruma

May 5, 1938

February 20, 2026

Peacefully passed in the early morning hours on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Born in Boston, MA to the late Concetta (Marturano) and Salvatore Ruma on May 5, 1938. He is survived by his loyal, loving wife and best friend Patricia C. Ruma. Pete was so proud of his 43 years of marriage plus the 7 years prior. He'd often say the "Best 50" of my life. Also surviving from a previous marriage, daughter Pamela (Paul) Plunkett. He'll be greatly missed by sisters in law Arlene (Dennis), Cathy, and brother in law Eddie (Daryl). Niece Laura and nephews Andrew and Edward (Lisa) and his family. Predeceased by his favorite uncle, Domenico Ruma (Heidelberg shoemaker) and sister Hope R. Drinkhall and her husband, Donald K. Drinkhall. Grateful for the "Family" of friends who supported him with their time and generosity, Marilyn and Alex Makar, Carol and Larry Thomas, Janet and Larry Thomas, Jr., Rick and Jen Thomas, Jeff Lakes, and Jeremy McKinney.

Pete graduated from Bridgeville High School, class of 1955. He worked in warehouse management for years and then as a heavy equipment towing specialist with Thomas Towing until he was 77 years old.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycles. Became interested in lighthouses due to his Long Island in-laws and acquired quite a collection.

His favorite times were spent on Long Island where he found the serenity and love of his wife's family.

Thank you to all who cared for Pete at Kane Regional Care Center - Scott Township on floors 2A and 4B. Grateful for the wonderful hospice care provided by Gallagher of Bridgeville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC., where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 11:00am. Following the Blessing Service, Pete will be laid to rest in Holy Souls Cemetery.
