Unexpectedly on Sunday, November 1, 2026, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Helen Buehler; Beloved wife for 68 years of Lawrence R. Thomas; loving mother of Marcia Thomas, Lawrence (Janet) Thomas and Mary Ellen (Mitch) Montani.
Proud Nanny of Anthony Cherup, Tricia (Aaron) Miles, Lorenzo (Emily) Thomas, Caroline Cherup, Mitchell (Rachel) Montani, Morgan (Donovan) Montani and the late David T. Cherup; great-grandmother to Tinsley and Tucker Miles.
Sister of the late Jean (Jack) Martin, Shirley (Andrew) Depp, Paul (Joan) Buehler and Patricia Loney; sister-in-law of Tom (Jane) Loney, the late Richard “Dickie” (Joyce) Thomas and Marilyn (Alex “Bunty” survives) Makar. Proud godmother of Ken (Kelly) Loney. Also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.
Carole, along with her husband Larry, spent their golden years as snowbirds. When in Pittsburgh, she hosted members of her family for “Spaghetti night” every Thursday. Her cooking and baking were staples for her kids, grandkids, extended family and many friends. In addition to spaghetti, her famous and most requested dishes included chilli, macaroni salad, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pizzelles, christmas cookies, jello cake and angel food cake.
In Florida, she enjoyed over 20 winters at the Encore RV Park in Vero Beach, spending time with her many friends. She was a proud member of the park committee, where she enjoyed organizing events and cooking for her friends. No matter where she was, Carole enjoyed sun tanning, euchre, pinochle, bingo, and cheering on her Pittsburgh sports teams. The family would like to thank Kathy (and the late Mike) Curran, as well as Sherry and Dan Younker, for their unconditional friendship.
