James Louis "Jim" Bennett

Age 80, of Carnegie, PA, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 with his family surrounding him . He was born on December 21 1944, in Pittsburgh, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathy Bennett, and their two daughters, Jennifer Filipek (Dave) and Jill Mangum (Chris). He was a proud Pap to Abby Turkovich (Cody), Mackenzie Mangum (Christian), and Max Mangum, and cherished the joys of being a great-grandfather to Grace, Layla, Killian, and Gwen. He will be deeply missed by his sister Linda Murdoch (Brian), and in laws Bill McKinsey (decd ) (Marie), Diane Allie (Gary, decd), Nancy Baker (Jake), Jack McKinsey (Dora), and Becky Parme (Ken) and numerous other family members and friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity. He is proceeded in death by his parents George and Gertrude Bennett and his siblings Lois (Bitz), Doris (Bob), and his twin Jack (Jackie) along with his in laws Agnes and John McKinsey.

Jim was a dedicated and hardworking individual who served his country as a sailor in the United States Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. After his service, he became an employee at Xerox, where he contributed his skills for many years. In addition to his professional career, Jim was deeply involved in his community, coaching Carnegie Little League baseball and supporting Carlynton wrestling and softball programs. He also found great joy in umpiring softball games, sharing his love for the sport with others. Later in life, he enjoyed a fulfilling role driving a school bus for local school districts, and he especially cherished driving sports teams to their games, where he was able to witness their growth and success firsthand.

Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness, humor, and love. May he rest in peace.

The family has chosen not to have a viewing but will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date. Please check the families Facebook for the Date of the event, they hope all can join in remembrance of Jim Bennett.
